Five Key Learnings:
• Wiggins and McTighe (2005) state that “The ability to transfer our knowledge and skill involves the capacity to take what we know and use it creatively, flexibly, fluently, in different settings or problems, on our own” (p. 40). We are only able to teach a limited amount of skills in a relatively short time frame. It is our hope that students will be able to take what they have learned and apply it to many different situations and aspects of their life. If our students can do this, then we have been successful as teachers.

I stress that this is their time to read and to practice and my time to listen to them and help they along the way. I love listening to students read, especially those who struggle so I can give them the encouragement and tell them how smart they are so they will continue to try and continue to grow as a
