Though clumsy at first, I eventually became proficient at coding through rigorous practice and diligence.
About three years ago, I started my journey as a student pursuing Electronics Engineering at the esteemed Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology (VESIT) and I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I say that this completely changed my outlook towards life. Initially, most my efforts were directed towards studying the courses I had undertaken and keeping in touch with recent breakthroughs in the field of Electronics through the ‘Electronics for You’ magazine and ‘How Stuff Works’ website.
When I was introduced to subjects like ‘Communication Skills’ in my 2nd semester, I started overcoming my prolonged fear of public speaking. Participating in group discussions, debates, and giving impromptu speeches diminished my stage fright. It also helped me in attaining the Coordinator position in the VESIT student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in my second year. Being a member IEEE-VESIT council, I aided in smooth execution of events and coordination with the parent council. We designed the safer and faster Non-stopping Bi-rail Systems (NBS) to overcome the hassles associated with Mumbai Suburban Train Network. NBS was planned so that it could move on the existing tracks network, thus saving the cost of implementation significantly. Though we didn’t win the finals, it was a great learning experience for us.
Although my interest is recently founded, I don’t lack zeal and dedication in any way. Moreover, I believe that passion should be measured in depth, not in length. My tenacity is what made me take up my final year dissertation in the field of Embedded Systems along with three of my peers. The project titled as Electronic Navigation for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ENaBled) is an initiative to reform the state of the disabled and instill a sense of independence in them. It aims to protect and provide a safeguard to the blind and visually challenged people by informing them about incoming obstacles
