This semester we have focused not only on learning how children learn to read & write, as well as on the power of language as a tool for thinking. We have also focused on our own processes as readers and writers. It is only by understanding our own process as writers, that we will be able to understand our students’ learning of their own writing processes. Find two entries where you think you are utilizing the qualities of good writing. Make copies of these two. What specific characteristics do these entries have? (Think about Katie Wood Ray’s work and the work we have done in class with children’s literature) Characteristic that I show in the entries are clarity, themes and sentence fluency.
4. What are the themes you tend to write about in your writer’s notebook?
The themes I tend to write are about are plants, science, family and food.
5. What have you learned about yourself as a writer during this summer session? How have you changed this semester as a writer? What I learned about myself as a writer is that I am a very personalized writer because I like to write about my emotions and family. I also learned that the more I practice my Spanish writing the better I become. This semester I have change as a writer in the fact that I have become more aware of my writing and have become creative in what I write.
6. What do you think you will need to do in order to continue to improve as a writer? In order to improve as a writer I would need to keep practicing my writing and be aware of what I write.
