Before british colonization hit Australia, there was a unique way of life here. Aborigines were the members of the traditional aboriginal race of Australia. These people were hunters and gathers. Kinship represented their social structuring. Tribes formed along the male lineage were called the Patriarchal descent and consisted of 2 or more families, while the female led lineage was considered the Matriarchal descent. After the british captured Australia, the aboriginal way of life took a downturn. However, Aborigines still do exist today. In fact, many Aborigines still have their own religion and beliefs. However, 60% of them are Christian. After the passage of the 1967 Land Rights Act, Aborigines received an education and went on to become lawyers, teachers, etc. They spoke many different languages depending on the territory they came from. Throughout this essay, I will examine how Australians inhabited a life within a dream.

Animism is the theory that animals and plants give spiritual enlightenment. Dreaming ancestors are affiliated with animism since they can possibly taking place in the form of a totem. Dreaming tracks are spiritual paths across the sky. Keep in mind that these were not sources for navigation.
Aborigines would use music to pass down knowledge. Songs would contain details about the “dreaming” aspect of aboriginal life, such as details on Dreaming ancestors. Music was vital in understanding how family lineages were made through elders in the Kinship. Traditional aboriginal music enters the ideal of living a life within a dream.
