Not only does binge drinking correlate with stress, but it can also sprout mental disorders such as: depression, anxiety, and bipolar. Binge drinking varies between both men and women. According to National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism binge drinking, “Typically happens when men consume % or more drink, and when women consume 4 or more drinks, in about 2 hours.” In addition, taking into consideration the size of a human will also impacts the consumption of alcohol. Smaller people will have less of a tolerance than larger people by body weight. As we all know, the legal blood alcohol concentration level is .08%, yet many college students tend to go beyond that stage. These young college students do not have control of themselves when consuming excessive amounts of alcohol, therefore it affects parts of the brain, especially the cerebellum, the part of the brain that coordinates voluntary movement. Many of these students will experience difficulty walking, slurring of words, memory lapses, and impulsive behaviors. Colleges students may also encounter the consequences of hurting themselves or others around them. Binge drinking is a warning sign of alcohol abuse and most college students do not know how to limit themselves with the amount of drinks they are consuming in that short period of time. Due to all these college students engaging in binge drinking, they do not take the time to realize how they will end up affecting their bodies in the long
