Achilles today is now known as a Hero and a Legend, but was once known as a man who was simply born into greatness. His father was Peleus King of the Myrmidons, and his mother was a Nymph named Thetis. When Achilles was first born, his mother wanted him to be safe and therefore came up with idea to bath him in the Styx river to make him immortal, but she held him by his heels when she dipped him in so that was the only part of his body that wasn’t immortal. Though overall Achilles was a brave and courageous warrior throughout his whole life, from when he was young till the day he died.
Achilles never trained to be a fighter, they say he was just destined to be an amazing fighter and warrior. Achilles was actually brought away from the Trojan war (which was just starting at the time). His mother took him to a small town that was very secluded, but as his mother feared the Greeks came the through the town and Achilles then joined the Greek army. Though before he went to war his mother took all precautions to keep him safe. She had an expert blacksmith (Hephaestus) make Achilles armour and weapons stronger than any other (Stutman). Then, he announced that he would no longer fight in the war. He then gathered his belongings, including the armor Hephaestus had made, and refused to come out of his tent. Later on without Achilles the Greeks started to lose battles very frequently and realize they need Achilles. Achilles still upset and angry refuses to fight but allows his best friend Patroclus to wear his armour to make the Trojans think Achilles has joined the war again. The plan was actually working pretty well until Apollo decided to help Hector (the Trojan Prince) track down and kill “Achilles”. They did end up finding “Achilles” and did kill him, but they then figure out it was actually Patroclus
