The Sensory-Neural Deafness has many treatments according to its condition, medical therapy ( using corticosteroids),surgery, nutritional therapy( low-sodium diet is proved to aid in the treatment) and the most common treatment is using the proper Hearing Aids, and the last type of deafness- the mixed deafness- which it has been advised by Audiologist Marl Ross PhD, to treat the conductive conditions before the sensory-neural deafness.
Preventing certain situations such as using ear plugs or muffs in noisy environments, make regular visits to the doctor to prevent any kind of infection or get an early diagnosis of any hearing problem, raise awareness to pregnant women about using the proper drugs (safe for the baby) during pregnancy, will aid to protect the ears ;from being damaged.
Hearing aids is one of the most convenient and common solution for deafness, it functions by collecting the sound waves from the surrounding and transforms the sound waves into electrical signal then the volume increases to the chosen level the user wanted, then transform back into sound waves to be transported through the canal to the rest parts of the ear. On the other hand, the hearing aids need to be adjusted according to the surrounding social event, for example in a wedding or a concert the user needs to lower the volume of the aid and vice versa when it comes to funerals. In addition, that users using BTE might get embarrassed from the visible aid attached to their ear.
In my opinion the advantages overcome the disadvantages since they lead to an active person who interacts socially with his family, friends, and colleagues.
