The most common and impactful HIT technology is the Electronic Health Record (EHR). EHR’s are able to maintain comprehensive documentation of every patient that a hospital interacts with. Along with EHR’s there are a variety of other technology that include but are not limited to computerized provider order entry, decision support, consumer health informatics and patient decision support. Although there are an extensive number of HIT innovations, their infiltration into the medical world has been slow and laborious.
In the following paper I have outlined my analysis of big problems HIT in America is facing. Once we have an understanding of the problems, we can delve further into understanding the problems by getting a holistic understanding of the stakeholders as well as the perceptions that they hold.
