Internet Voting
Internet voting is a type electronic voting in which voters submit their ballots, as shown by the name, by way of the Internet. There are many perceived advantages and potential issues to this method because of the simple fact that is so new and they are still working out many of the kinks. The idea behind Internet voting is that it would provide a way to improve on many of the current voting methods by making the vote processing easier, making it more accessible to the electorate, providing secrecy and anonymity, and many more benefits. However, there are many experts who do not believe that Internet voting is a good method, at least in its current state. As it a relatively new voting method, it is expected that there will be some obstacles to circumvent and challenges to face on the way to creating an effective voting method. This would make sense because it improves upon many of the current issues with voting methods today. These improvements would also expectedly have a positive effect on voter participation. The first of which has to do with vote processing. Since all of the votes are cast over the Internet, they are already tallied electronically. One of the main problems with paper ballots, which are still very prevalent, is that there is no way to count the votes nearly as efficiently as Internet voting does since they must hand count the votes, which is very tedious.
