Illegal immigrants face the obstacles of not being able to apply for any welfare, healthcare, public assistances and unemployment because of their legal status. The only benefit illegals get is public education but this only applies to youth who, instead of working, have the opportunity to study. Gleeson and Gonzales state that “we evaluate the extent to which schools and workplaces differentiate on the basis of documented status and we assess how these two institutions differentially shape immigrant experience”(2). Unauthorized students and workers have different sense of viewing different aspects in The United States, meaning that they taught different on the rights they have as undocumented immigrants. The migrants’ people look at The United States as a beacon of opportunities and prosperity that they end up for the need of getting out of their bankrupt economy in their countries. Yet they do not knowing the multiple inequalities they will encounter in their path to prosperity.
