Final Paper - Analytical Process Essay
During my college education, discipline was the building principle through which the school was run. Students were expected to follow the rules and regulations to the letter without question. These policies were referred to as the Adult Education Policies (Balfanz, Byrnes, & Fox, 2014). In addition to academic excellence, students were expected to observe the highest levels of discipline and maturity. A proper reporting channel was designed to ensure ethical issues were considered when dealing with the cases. The initial stage was the teacher giving a verbal warning to the offender. In such cases, the student was warned of the indiscipline committed and the possible repercussions for repeat cases. The teacher did not record the interaction as the students were given the benefit of doubt. If the student committed the same offence or a related indiscipline issue, the teacher was allowed to give a formal warning to the student and a copy of the letter kept in the students file (Losen, …show more content…
For example, students would misbehave due to peer pressure from their colleagues. The need to act tough was a big deal during my college days, and students attempted all manner of behaviours in order to portray their tough side of life. In most cases, the actions were against the schools policies and led to disciplinary action. Family background also played a role in the number of indiscipline cases documented (Ricketts, 2015. Disputes in the family would lead students to making irrational decisions due to the frustrations experienced at their home. Alcoholism, divorce, poverty, and separation were the biggest contributors to family related indiscipline
