Some of the most influential philosophers of all time came from Greece not surprising how many Greek philosophers there were. Greek philosophy presumably started in Miletus a Greek city with the philosopher Thales. Other important Greek philosophers included Speusippus, Plotinus, Anaximander, and most importantly Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. Socrates taught philosophy on his own and tried to focus on moral and psychological questions. Plato and Aristotle are also well-known philosophers that contributed a whole lot to society with their critical studies of ethics, science, politics, and science. Not only did philosophy change the way that people approached questions back then, but it has also influenced modern philosophy, “Ancient Greek philosophy focused on the role of reason and inquiry. It had an important influence on modern philosophy, as well as modern science. The influence from ancient Greek and Hellenistic philosophers was expanded to medieval Muslim philosophers and scientists, to the European Renaissance and Enlightenment, to the modern natural sciences and technology.”(IEP). Equally important were Greek ideologies that were essential in all areas of life. Due to poor soil it was extremely risky to attempt to grow crops because most of the tome it would fail. Although growing was highly unreliable Greece still had a type of economic system that replaced agriculture. Trade made it possible for specific goods to be traded with those countries that had a lack of it, for example since Greece had an undependable agricultural supply it was crucial for Greeks to try and acquire this. Countries that traded with Greece were usually in need of metal and art such as paintings and pottery something Greece had a fair amount of. Similar goods traded between Greece and other countries included raw materials, art, food, Ivory, and precious metals like bronze, copper, and gold. In the same way goods were traded philosophies, religions, beliefs, and culture was also between Greece and other societies.
