This can be seen in the revolts, civil war, and the military rule. This relates to the idea of Western society influencing other parts of the world; by being the catalyst of all these events which change the way the Burmese people live their lives.

This chapter highlights the invasion of Afghanistan by the U.S. after the attacks on September 11th, 2001. It offers insight towards the historical conflicts that lead up to the wars, such as the civil war that the radical group called the Taliban, which eventually took rule of Afghanistan. This catapulted the U.S. and Afghanistan into a series of wars that provoked the Sudan born Osama Bin Laden to orchestrate the horrific 9/11 attacks.With the influence of the West, Afghanistan and the way society views it today have drastically changed.
