He is a man that is 50 years old and works for a Fortune 500 company. When I asked Fred about the topic of civilization without the Internet and if one could live without the Internet (Question 1): He believed it is very hard to fit in civilization and you limit yourself to only having access to older media such as newspapers and textbooks. It is a critical element in society, especially for the younger generation. Everything is becoming tech-savvy and constantly changing. If you aren’t up to date with technology, you can have trouble getting a career or fitting in with typical social media communication. Question 2: When getting the Internet for your first time did it change your outlook on life? And did you value information more? Fred said he valued having the Internet’s vast paradise of information more as compared to the previous sources of information (library, newspapers, and magazines). It has created a space where you can constantly get new information and is always updating. Question 3: When posting on social media do you think before you post? He said he is always very thoughtful and careful because he never knows who will be reading what he posted. His analogy is to never post anything you wouldn't want your grandmother to read. I think the Internet has really helped the world to flourish and provides all the knowledge one can ever need right under our fingertips. I think the Internet is a great resource in that any member of society can access it by using the public library or if they have a personal Internet connection. I, however, do not agree with companies tracking users to get personal information. I do believe it’s fair to allow the gathering of certain information as long as it’s only for tailoring the website content toward your interests or for your purchase. I would rather have them assist/suggest what I am looking for instead of me scrolling through 50 pages of uninteresting
