Currently, I work as a researcher and policy planner for Presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders. My job is informing him on the brief historical chronology leading to present day extremism, providing him with clear advice for how to differentiate between groups and their perspectives, supply him with points that he can use in a debate to refute some of the fear and hate-mongering statements made by others, as well as give him effective suggestions for how to confront Global Jihadism in ways including and beyond military. With recent threats to Washington D.C and New York City, we must address the issue of Global Jihadism. In order to ensure the safety of all Americans, we must first educate and come to an understanding of how the War on Terror has come about.”
This will serve as an introduction to the debate on the War on Terror. In order for Bernie to educate the masses on the War on Terror, I must first prep him so he is at a full understanding as well. I will inform him on the brief historical chronology leading up to present day extremism. First, Bernie needs to have a full knowledge about the enemy, Global Jihadists. What exactly does it mean to be a jihadists? In Arabic, jihad means a struggle against the self, passions, instincts and temptations that oppress the soul. However, when this religious doctrine is paired with social justice, the idea of jihad becomes global and expands to the struggle against the internal and external enemies of Islam, even against unbelief.
