They wanted to be separate from Great Britain’s monarchy. They wanted rights that no one could take away from them and the freedom to express their beliefs, speech, and pursuit of happiness. The Constitution still covers these rights and protect our beliefs. It gives everyone rights and all citizen a voice. This enable us to maintain a successful government. The founders created 3 branches; legislative, judicial, and executive. The legislative branch includes the House of Representative and Senate; the judicial branch represents the supreme court, and the executive represents the President. The legislative was established based on the fact that each state would have equal representation in the Senate and by population in the House of Representatives; the President was created to execute the will of the legislation, and the judicial was created to make sure all laws were fair and enforced. All branches were created to separate the power and not to make one person or group more powerful than the other.

The Bill of Rights amendments are a big controversy in today society. The first and second amendments are the two biggest controversy right now. The first amendment states the right for speech, press, religion, free to assemble and free to petition the government. This amendment is a big controversy because there are sports athletes like Colin Kappernick not standing up for the national anthem and taking a knee during the national anthem. Many people feel that the athletes should stand up for national anthem but in reality they don’t have too because it’s their rights to not stand up for the national anthem because of the first amendment of freedom of speech.
