Allowing negative behaviors or attitudes to create discord in the workplace will weaken and create chasms within the staff, leading to an unproductive and divisive workforce. A leader has to be able to recognize potential negative thoughts, behaviors, attitudes within themselves, self-correcting when these occur so that the leader can model what is needed and expected within their staff. Leaders also need to have an acute awareness and sensitivity regarding their staff’s feelings, when a staff member struggles a leader understands the need for increased support and guidance.
