In the Book of Genesis, trickery and deception is demonstrated by characters who are never punished for their behavior, but his actions usually get him further ahead in the story. Characters use to trickery to a means to an end. In Book 22, God commands Abraham to take his son to Mount Moriah and offer him as a sacrifice. “Stay here with the ass; I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you (Genesis 22.5).” Abraham tells his servants to wait for them, and that they will both return, but Abraham’s statement is a lie because the story has nothing to indicate that Abraham thought his son was going to survive the offering which required him to kill his only son.…
God creates everything on earth in six days and on the seventh day he rests [Genesis 1.1-31, 2.1-22]. In this myth, one god is the sole cause of each…
The literary form and genre of the book of Genesis is prose: biblical and historical narrative. Biblical narratives in Genesis show that “God is active in His world” and these narratives typically “chose certain events to reveal God.” For instance, this element is apparent when the Angel of the Lord speaks to Hagar, granting her the promise of descendants (Gen 16:10). In the same manner, this element is reinforced in subsequent chapters (Gen 17:19; 18:10). In describing this book, it is significant to note that most of the characters in the narrative are flawed.…
As Dr. DeWitt states in his lecture, “Elsewhere in the Old Testament, where ‘yom’ [the Hebrew word for ‘day’] is used with a number… it means an ordinary day. If it is used with night, evening, or morning it means an ordinary day.” In the Genesis 1 account, a number with both morning and evening are used. It is almost as if the writer were urging readers not to be confused about the meaning. There is also the reference to the days of creation as a blueprint for the work week in Exodus 20:9-11, “You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God……
1. “The Sacrifice of Purusha” – In this narrative the Gods used Purusha to create the worlds. From Purusha came the verses and chants, the meters from that, the formula from that, and from that came horses, animals with double rows of teeth, cows, goats, and sheep. Purusha’s mind became the moon, his eye became the sun, his mouth turned into Indra and Agni, from his breath the wind was created, from his navel the atmosphere, from his head the heavens, from his feet the earth, and from his ear the cardinal directions.…
Hesiod 's Theogony and the Book of Genesis, came from two very distinct cultures. Hesiod’s Theogony is the Greek account of the creation of earth and humankind, while The Book of Genesis is the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament, which also stands as an account of creation. There are a number of profound similarities and differences between the creation stories contained in Hesiod 's Theogony and the biblical book of Genesis. The similarities and differences between these works may reflect a great cultural similarity between human kind, and can reflect social understandings and interpretations of the outside world.…

Just like a cloud, like a mist, was the creation and formation of it.” (Popol Vuh 61). The gods created the Earth in one day in Genesis God took seven days to create Earth and everything on it, however in both of these works there is a hierarchy for creation. In both myths, the day and night, light and dark, oceans, trees, and animals were all created before human…
The New Lexicon Webster dictionary describes the word day as the interval of light between two successive nights or the time between sunrise and sunset (“Day”). In contrast to young earth Creationists’ definition of the day, evolutionists believe that the term day may have been different at the time, but young earth Creationists know that it was referring to a twenty-four -hour-span. There is biblical evidence showing the literal twenty-four-hour period. Biblical evidence for this is as…
As a Christian I believe that the Bible is inerrant. I also believe that the creation story in Genesis is true. I furthermore believe that God formed the world, its life forms, and the rest of the universe in one continual act of creation. The evolutionary system has been entrenched for so long that many people are trying to accept the Bible as infallible.…

Creation is, by definition, the act of bringing life to where there was none to begin with. Christianity teaches us that all living things are born with an inherit purpose. A role to fulfil that brings to completion our lives. Frankenstein, more than anything else, asks the question of what a living creature is to do, with no purpose instilled into them. At its very core, it is a story about the ramifications of creating life, assuming the role of the creator, and ultimately the level responsibility that we are expected from this act.…
In the Beginning God created the heavens, and the earth, he created light by simply speaking it into existence. He created the land and the sea which he then put plants and vegetation on. He then created the creatures of the earth, and then ultimately he created us, human beings, which he created in reflection of his image to populate and glorify him (Genesis 1-2 ESV). As we see, God was actively involved in his creation since the very beginning, carefully putting all the pieces into place in order to create a world which we could inhabit all with one goal of worshiping and glorifying God. Unfortunately the temptation of sin was too much for the human heart to resist on its own, and instead of turning to a God of grace and mercy for the strength we needed man fell and have been sinners ever since (Genesis 3 ESV).…
