Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions. (Athletic Training, 2017) These individuals in the athletic trainer field provide continuous care to patients during injury and post injury. Athletic trainers also provide education on injury and re-injury prevention helping reduce the amount of injury. This includes all patients, not just those individuals who are in the sports community. These individuals are also responsible for planning rehabilitation schedules to maximize the outcomes of injury as far as functions and mobility. This allows a positive outcome of investments for employers by to improving attendance for work or school. With all these responsibilities and duties there is varies requirements for becoming an athletic trainer.
A requirement for becoming an athlete trainer is a medical-based bachelors or master’s degree from a program that is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
