Some of the tricks that will be discussed work better with a particular kind of paint so keep that in mind as progress is made on your work of art. For tempera and acrylic, my favorite thing to do is the glob various colors of paint on a piece of paper, then either fold is in half or lay another piece on top of the sheet with paint on it. Smooth the paint away from the center or crease of the paper and then unfold or pull apart. This must be done quickly so that the paint doesn’t dry with the sheet still together. If it does dry before the sheets are separated the will likely tear. This method won’t work with water color but would do will with the yogurt option. A tooth pick could be used to pull away wet paint to show the color underneath. This can be used to draw pictures or write a name or message. Balled up aluminum foil can create a scratched look on your painting. Saran wrap laid over wet paint and slightly pinched in various areas adds texture to the painting. Water colors aren’t any less fun. While a water color painting is still wet, sprinkle a little salt on it. This will make a speckled effect on the area where salt came to contact with the paint. Simply brush it off when it is dry. Either while the water color painting is wet or after it dries, sprinkle, spray or pour water on the painting to fade the paint somewhat in those areas. All of these techniques can be done
