This method has proven to be instrumental in the poultry industry, as it allows farm owners to keep up with demands and produce high quality animals. Despite its benefits to the food industry, scientists argue that constant exposure to antibiotic in food could increase antibiotic resistant in human, a condition where ‘’bacteria repeatedly exposed to antibiotics possessed an ability to thwart the drugs designed to kill them’’ (Ogle, 2013). While antibiotic use in agricultural products may present risks to human health, the level of risks associated with it are not well characterized. From an outsider and a consumer’s perspective, it is clear that there are there is more to this issue than it meets the eyes. Therefore, this research will focus on both of side of the argument regarding the use of antibiotic in animals and discuss whether or not the benefits of antibiotic use in agricultural products outweigh its cost.
