Betty Neuman was born in Ohio and has worked in many areas of nursing practice. She is the founder/director of Newman Systems Model Trustees Group. In 1970,she began developing her Systems Model as a way to teach introductory nursing to students by giving them a holistic view of patients.Neuman’ s model was influenced by the philosophy writers deChardin and Comu,Von Betalanfy and Lazio on GST,Selye on stress theory Lasarus on stress and coping . The Neuman System Model is based on general system theory and reflects the nature of living organisms as open systems.(Alligood,2014).The Neuman Systems Model views the client as an open system that responds to stressors in the environment. (Alligood, 2014).Health-According to Neuman health is the condition in which all parts and subparts are in harmony with the whole client.
