Various explainations of abnormal behavior have progressively changed over the course of many years. In prehistoric time, it was believed that abnormal behavior was an attribute to demonology, where evil spirts inhabited an individual’s body deeming their behavior as abnormal. In order to treat such demonic behavior, treatments such as trephining and exorcism were established.Within the era of Roman rule circa 500 B.C to 500 A.D, Hippocrates proposed a naturalistic explanation, a dysfunction or disease of the brain contributes to abnormal behavior.
