He talked about dance as a way that is just more than dancing. “How can dance be only about dancing when it requires one’s memory to learn steps and exercises; ones spirit and sense of community; one’s ideas about war, death, sickness, love, hope, sex, God, Gods; and one’s sexuality and sensuality, gender, class, age and ability in all types of movement?” (Nadel 297). Students do not have to be a professional dancer in order to comprehend the chapters in this book. Every section articulates valuable and varying insights into the numerous genres of dance. Students are able to learn new information that is beneficial to their personal being. They are also given the opportunity to appreciate the culture and movement of dance, along with being provided a number of evocative vistas supporting the landscapes of dance experiences. Students might even find an urge to get up to dance to music or sign up for a class at Eastern. “Being exposed to dance at a later time in life, such as in college or by reading a book like this one permits you to better appreciate the incredible challenges that dance presents” (Nadel 11). If students do choose to engage themselves with dance because of this book, then they will have a fresh and embracing experience to add to the understandings of them self, of others, of the arts and of the dancing world as a whole throughout many countries in the world
