In western countries the impact of culture on fashion industry, the role of local government of a country in the emergence of fashion industry and the prime factors that contribute to its development are analysed in a wide range of researches. Based on this researches western countries have been able to understand and eventually develop effective measures for enhancing the current position of fashion retail companies. The nature of the supply chain, development of new strategy, modified policies on the part of apparel fashion retail business are selected less for discussion. However as argued by Polhemus (2010, p.104), it is evident that fashion retail companies in Indian market are new and therefore there are not enough researches conducted for the understanding of the impact of fashion industry. Naturally, there are not enough studies conducted on the effects of driving factors that affect fashion apparel industry in India. In India, general studies are conducted on fashion industries. The studies are generally based on the references of researches conducted in the western countries. 1.8 Research Hypotheses

1.9 Structure of the research
The dissertation is divided into five different chapters. In the first chapter, the content deals with an introduction to the concept of effects of the home policy in retaining the customers of Primark. A brief introduction is given to the company in the context of India. In the second part, literature review about the matter is dealt in detail.
