Observations
During my observation, I tried to be alert for everything. While the patient was in preoperative care the nurses got the surgical room ready far as counting the surgical instruments that were going to be used during the procedure, made sure the areas that needed to be secure sterile, gathered medications/supplies that were going to be used, and made sure everything was in place by the time the physicians was ready to operate on their patient. Moreover, in some cases the infant can be injured during the delivery, or have breathing problems that would cause them to be in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for a certain amount of time.
Thoughts about the procedure.
I was glad the patient gave me the opportunity to see her be able to bring a beautiful baby into this world. The mother’s and father’s reaction to see their child was wonderful. In addition, the C-section procedure was the first surgery that I got to see an abundant of blood come out of a patient. Furthermore, being able to see how much hard work not only the physicians but the nurses put in made me appreciate even more the healthcare career I will be soon
