Parents feel they achieve success by using punishment and shame and blame. Children with authoritarian parents are trained to be obedient and follow their parent’s direction. Parents expect their children to obey them without giving them an explanation. Both parents do not have to be authoritarian parents. One authoritarian parent will a big impact on a child. Children are encouraged to become independent and respect others although they are highly influence by their parents and not their peers (Bednar and Fisher 2003).
