Captain Seungkyu (Kevin) Kim, assistant S3 for the 41st for the 41st Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade, embodies the ideals of Duty, Honor, Country. As the assistant S3 for the most forward-deployed strategic signal battalion in the Republic of Korea, he was responsible for planning strategic communications support to UNC/CFC/USFK/8A and major subordinate commands in order to enable mission command, maintain the armistice, and fight tonight. Train and lead Soldiers, KATUSAs, and ROK and U.S. Civilians, and administer an operations staff which supports operations, training, network planning and installation, cyber security, physical security, future plans and exercises, NETOS, CBRN, COMSEC, OPSEC, and the Regional Network Operations Security Center. …show more content…
CPT Kim, answered the call by assuming the role and responsibility of a position of greater authority by becoming the Battalion S3 for a 90 day period, his efforts sustained the section during a period of transition. Captain Kim is a gifted leader and team builder and has exemplified mission command by trusting his subordinate leaders to accomplish tasks and mission through the intent established by the Battalion Commander. By trusting his Soldiers and underwriting the potential failures of his subordinate leaders, he empowered them to take charge, achieving exemplary results. In doing so, he prepared the battalion for the Command Cyber Readiness Inspection, helping the organization maintain
