There are many things that are in relation with periodontal disease that a lot of people do not realize nor do they even consider it to be the issue. It is simpler than most think, it is our mouth, our oral cavity to the inside of our body. When periodontitis occurs, the periodontal pockets are filled with anaerobic organisms, mainly P. gingivalis but can also be P. asaccharolytica and or P. endodontalis,that can cause more substantial damage than gingivitis. The gums are covered by a plaque biofilm, which is difficult to destroy and protects the bacteria from the microbial agents.
