The theme from act one revolved around love. Love, in this case, revolves around lies, hatred, illness, land, and money. Brick and Maggie are a depressing couple sleep in a room that has a beautiful view on a plantation. This land was once owned by a gay couple. Maggie wants to have a real relationship with her so- called husband, Brick. Unfortunately, he's not into her or even crazy about her. Maggie wants to Brick to be crazy and love her the way she loves him. She's unhappy but she believes that Brick will sooner or later change his mind. Maggie makes connections throughout act one finding out information on why Brick is the way he is.
