The United States and the Soviet Union had different views concerning how the government should govern its people. In essence Europe was divided into the eastern half was awarded to the Soviet Union and the Western half was split between the United States, Great Britian, and France. In the Western half the Allies began to organize governments to begin to lead the countries out of the war and into reconstruction. In the Eastern half the Soviet Union set up governments, but they were indoctrinated with the communist system and remained under the control of the Soviet Union. The United States seeing upon seeing this divised a system of containment in an attempt to stem the threat of communism in Eastern Europe and Asia. The containment policy would eventually fail when put into place in the Korean War and the Vietnam war, and the threat of massive spread of communism never came to
