Character design is an important thing that take artists a lot of time to finalise, they gain inspiration from the world around them and extract attracting things and add them to the character they want to make; whether it be a protagonist and antagonist, the artist will always show their personality through how they draw them. The artists that I will be studying and analysing are Futoshi Nishiya, Rodrigo Araya, and Disney. I will talk about the steps that these artists have taken to create the final design of their characters and how the expression that has been used conveys the personality of the character that they want to create, and I will also be defining the personality of the character by analysing the clothes that they are drawn to be wearing.

We can see here tablet drawn characters that Araya has created, these characters seeming more futuristic and maybe ready for war than what Nishiya would have done. We can see that Araya has used women in his work and made them powerful and with weapons, maybe signifying that they are stronger than men here? The outfits that have been explored here seem to be protection gear, except for the character in the middle who seems to be, for lack of better words, in her underwear. I believe this may be due to the fact that in every industry, women are still conveyed as being sexual figures, even if it is, in this case, a concept of war and weaponry. I like how the designs are only in black and white, a simple outline of the character and makes you focus on the little details that Araya has included in his work. I would take inspiration from Araya’s work because I like the concept idea that he has gone for and can see myself using a similar concept to him as I believe it is the most adventurous and is the one that appeals to me the
