Discussion
Lake Evelyn and Wakefield Pond were all the places utilized to observe the physical and chemical properties as well as biological, of every lake. From the point of analysed information in the figures and tables above, one can find the productivity of each …show more content…
This graph demonstrates the light traced in log base of 10 scale. The penetration of the light is extremely important for the lakes life, due to the vital faction that takes place in photosynthesis. Inside every lake, the light decreases as one goes deeper. After, finding all ranges of light, the ETI and the compensation were then calculated for both lakes (Tale 5). In the 2.5m to 1.7m depth in both lakes, the turbidity and algae growth has demonstrated that indicates so much the depth of compensation, such as the ETI, and can also demonstrate its specific trophic states. The TSIs calculated for each lake demonstrate that Wakefield Pond has to be considered a eutrophic lake, because the TSI is just above the 50’s, while Lake Evelyn has an index of 48. This would be categorising it as a mesotrophic, which is less productive than Wakefield Pond.
Chemical Characteristics
Table 4 gives the information about the experiments that involved chemical performances in both lakes. By trying the solutions and comparing the results that students got form then lakes, it was demonstrated that Lake Evelyn had the highest pH and second place in alkalinity. Because of these two factors, Lake Evelyn and the highest strength of 220 mg / L. Wakefield demonstrated any phosphoric level, which confirms the value of TSI that predicts that is a eutrophic lake. Either lake Evelyn gave positive to phosphorous or it simple did not give positive, and we believe is due to the nitrate.
