1:17 NRSV). This is one of the reasons why we create that bond with Jesus through studying his Word. Fourth, it is personal. The Bible is a direct dialogue between us and our Savior. We study Scripture for personal application. We need to reflect on God’s Word so we can live according to God’s purpose he has for us. Even though the stories of the Bible have taken place long ago, they can still a direct correlation to us today. I have mixed feelings about this article. The format of the article was well laid out. The author needed a better attention catcher because the first parts of the essay almost put me to sleep. I liked how the author covered four essential points to have when reading Scripture and made it clear in his thesis. The four points are all connected and not doing one of them will affect the other three. I agree with all the author’s points, but I think the author did a very poor job elaborating on them. However, if we want a steady or non existent relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, then achieving these tasks will not come from the heart, but rather out of duty. It should not feel as if we have to do what God says, but rather that we want to do what God commands. Our passion for Jesus comes from within, and we should always hunger to deepen and strengthen our relationship with Christ. This article is only for the ones that are hungry for Jesus’s Word or wanting to change their life for the good. There were ideas in the article that were new to me. I liked how in the first point, the author told us to speak less and listen more. I sometimes fall into that trap of talking too much and not thinking before I speak. This was a good reminder that I need to think before I
