Charles Lindbergh was a force of nature in aviation history. His whole life experience shaped who he was and who he became. Charles didn’t make it by being perfect, but make many mistakes along the way. His passion for aviation, however, was his god. He couldn’t live without it, and accomplished many things in the world because of this. The most famous act was his solo non-stop flight from New York to Paris as the first person ever to complete such a feat. Charles Lindberg is an aviation hero, and getting a glimpse of his life and the events will provide a better understanding of what drove him to become such a force in aviation and the world.

On return to the United States, he was met with even more praise and even received the congressional Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Lindbergh started setting up Aeronautics awareness programs, became the first “Man of the Year” in TIME Magazine, and even helped in making of a medical pump leading to the invention of the artificial heart. In his travels, he eventually went to Mexico and met with the Ambassador of Mexico. It was here that he met his wife, Anne Morrow, the ambassador’s daughter. They were married in 1929. He taught Anne how to fly and they went on many adventures together around the world.

Possibly one of the most famous stories of Charles Lindbergh was the Kidnapping and murder of his 20-month-old son. His son was kidnapped on 1 March 1932. A ransom note demanding $50,000 was left at the home. After a long and tragic search, Lindbergh finally met with a man and paid him the ransom a month later. However, the child was never returned, but instead was found dead in the woods 10 weeks after the kidnapping. It also appeared the child had been dead since the kidnapping happened. In 1934, Bruno Richard Hauptmann was convicted and sentenced to death for the crime.

With all his flaws, lack of outward emotion, and struggles, he continued to pursue what he loved. He paved the way for aviation and made many advances in it. Although we do not know about Charles Lindbergh’s religious beliefs, his story is similar to old testament greats. Prophets and leaders like Moses and Jacob are known for the great amazing things they did. However, looking deeper into their character we see how flawed their lives were. They were people with many issues and problems just like us. In Charles Lindbergh’s case, he is remembered for the amazing things he accomplished. However, behind all of these accomplishments is a broken and imperfect man just like you and
