Culture is the characteristics or knowledge of many people. I read a book about the culture and dynasties of China and took notes to compare with the American Culture. The three main parts I researched are; the aspects of the Chinese language, their religion and their gender roles in society.
First, I will be comparing and differing the religions that the USA and China. In both great nations, religion plays an important role in the life of families, government, and economics. In America, the predominate religion is Christianity; however, any religion a citizen wishes to practice is recognized. Americans first settled here, in part due to a desire to freely practice their religious faith, free from persecution. Today, America is represented by multiple religions, allowing freedom to practice for all.

The use of language is one of the greatest necessities of life. Language in China and the U.S. is crucial for recreational life and for business. Although we all say they speak Chinese they actually speak mandarin and cantonese. Mandarin is found more in the North and Cantonese in the south. Mandarin is also used for business. Unlike the US where we speak English all of china speaks mostly these two languages even as the same ethnic group. Disregarding other ethnicities in both countries. Surprisingly, mandarin have adopted some of our slang.The mandarin language has 5 tones in their language. The American alphabet has 26 characters, but the mandarin language has 50,000 even though the dictionary only list 20,000. You need to know 2-3,000 to be able to read a newspaper.
