I chose to discuss the classical period of the eighteen century. The form that I chose is the sonata form. During the eighteens music changed from the baroque era to the classical period. The change brought a change in style. During the late baroque era music was complex and sophisticated. The music consisted of a harmony and melody. Symphonies are large works that are written for the entire orchestra. Symphonies were developed during the classical period. The classical period changed the style of music. During the baroque era music was more complex and required the audience to think more about the music. The foundation or harmony was simplistic but the melody was more complex because of the range composers had to work from. During the baroque era a big genre is the concerto. This music was written for an orchestra and a soloist. During the classical period music changed in rhythm and sound. People wanted more natural and simplistic sounds with a different flow. People had become to use to the way music was composed during the baroque era. The symphony offered people music that sounded different and was not predictable. Rhythm was the biggest change between baroque and classical but there were also changes in dynamics and tone color too. Rhythm during the baroque era was predictable. The changes in tones happened during set specific times within the music that were not random. The rhythm during the classical period was flexible. Composers were able to change the rhythm constantly in the different themes of the composition. The dynamics also took on the idea of variety. During the baroque era dynamics did not change much. Composers chose one and stuck with it throughout the entire piece of music. In the classical period composers were able to hit all of the different dynamics in one piece of music. They were able to change the dynamic level during the music to give it a different effect which made the music more appealing to everyone. Another change in the way music was written was the development of forms. Forms were a guidance to how symphonies were composed. Along with forms there was a change in movements within a symphony.
