As a major in computer science, with minimal knowledge about computers, I have a plethora of ignorance on the subject. I am hoping to have a bachelors in computer science after 4 years at UNF, and the deciding factor in my major of choice is the fact that it encompasses a wide variety of jobs that typically pay a substantial wage and decent opportunities for location of work. These options would allow me to find an area I enjoy in a place I like with a comfortable life. However, getting to the end of education poses a challenge considering how far I have to go and how much there is to learn between me and the end. While companies like Google and Apple create ignorance by protecting their software, the majority of the ignorance stems from apathy on the subject and instead of exploring it, people just accept that it works and move on. This native type of ignorance will be a minor barrier in my education, but in my focus on computer science I will be creating ignorance in neglecting to pursue psychology. Creating this void of knowledge of other areas reinforces Proctor's main point of ignorance being everywhere and that "a focus upon object A involves a neglect of object B"(7).
