Originally a piece from Rimsky-Korsakov, Scherherazade “captures the imagination of longstanding concert-goers and those new to symphony concerts.” To me, going to a musical concert like this was a first. I was fascinated with the musicians and how they stayed in tune with one another. I heard music that sounded so pure to me, and it made me feel really relaxed and interested in what would happen next. The first half of the concert offered a multimedia examination of Rimsky-Korsakov, utilizing actors and projecting images. These images would reveal the plots context in history, how it fits into the composer’s output of music, and the details of his life that influenced the creation of this magical performance. This performance truly illuminated the stories found inside the music. Halfway through the concert, we were let out for intermission for about 15 minutes. During that time, my friends and I went to the concession stand to get some food and some drinks. The line was so long it took the whole time in order for us to get what we wanted. The food on the menu was so high class we did not know what to think. The food menu consisted of cheese from many different countries, caviar (an expensive Sterling fish row-eggs), smoked salmon and Palma Ham. My friends and I did not expect to see such extravagant food like that, and the prices affiliated with these foods were so expensive. We ended up eating mixed nuts, which were really good and fresh and some water, since we are not twenty-one and could not buy wine. During the intermission, my friends and I started to people watch. Most of the people who attended this concert were older in age and very properly dressed. There were many students at the concert from Texas State University since we were offered extra credit for attending the concert. The attire for the people
