In Los Angeles, living in a safe neighborhood is expensive. Many times I had to choose to either live in a safe neighborhood with 3 roommates or to live by myself in a dangerous part of Los Angeles. Because I always choose to live in a safe place, most of my budget went to paying rent. With little money I choose to have the cheapest health insurance. I also did not have savings and contributing to a retirement plans was a pipe dream. Stress was a constant in those days. Today, companies are starting to help employees ' emotional and mental wellbeing by providing counseling services. While at CVTC my boss, the Registrar, left for a better position. I was invited to be in the interview committee to find a new Registrar. I saw the invitation as recognition of my judgment. I was disappointed when the position was offered to an unqualified friend of the other committee members. This would occur once again when they hired an Associate Registrar without any experience. He is now the Associate Registrar for UW-Stout due to personal connections. My biggest pet peeve is to be surrounded by ignorant and lazy workers. Because of the environment and abysmal leadership, I resigned. In a spontaneous Moment, I wrote a letter letting them know exactly what I thought about each of them and resigned.
