Cultural and Contextual Literacy
In psychology, there are many personality theories, but the four most important ones includes psychoanalytic, humanistic, social cognitive, and behavioral. These four theories can be placed on a nature v. nurture continuum that will determine if a person is born with it or develops it over time due to the environment. There are many psychological disorders such as anxiety disorder, panic disorder, phobias, etc. It is known that Schizophrenia is the worst one of all. According to Rathus (2014), schizophrenia affects about 1% of the population worldwide (p. 299).

“It is characterized by disturbances in thought and language, perception and attention, motor activity, and mood…” (Rathus, 2014, p.299). Schizophrenia is where everything that could go wrong, goes wrong (Rathus, 2014, p.299). This type of disorder has different symptoms such as positive and negative symptoms (Rathus, 2014, p.299). There are many types of schizophrenia such as paranoid, disorganized and catatonic (Rathus, 2014, p.300). According to Rathus (2014), paranoid schizophrenia can have complex delusions and frequent hallucinations (p.300). Disorganized schizophrenia sufferers usually have disorganized behaviors and disorganized delusions (Rathus, 2014, p.300). The catatonic type is the most unusual psychological disorder (Rathus, 2014, p.300). Someone with catatonic schizophrenia typically shows a striking impairment in motor activity (Rathus, 2014, p.300). According to researchers at Johns Hopkins University (2012), schizophrenia can be categorized in both nature and nurture.
