The customs, traditions, attitudes, values, norms, ideas and symbols govern human behavior pattern during the life of a person. The members of society not only endorse them but also mould their behavior accordingly. And building relationships with people from different cultures and valuing them is important in building diverse communities that are powerful enough to achieve significant goals- This principle aims at bringing all individuals closer to one another so as to make this society a friendlier place to stay in. Relationships play a very important role in the lives of people. People who have more and more relationships have more people to talk to and share their feelings with. The differences can be based on gender, age, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and social status. Cultural diversity is also known as multiculturalism and it is a group of diverse individuals from different cultures or societies. In every culture there are basic standards for social interaction such as personal space, eye contact, amount of body language displayed in public, negotiating style, etc. In America, people stand about eighteen inches apart when they are engaged in a normal conversation; they prefer very direct eye contact and negotiate very directly. In other cultures they may stand closer or farther than we are comfortable, may view direct eye contact as rude, be more or less open to displaying body language and negotiate more indirectly. All these differences are due to ones culture and is just the way that people have been brought up and taught to do since their childhood. It is the duty of each individual to accept people the way they are and become more tolerant towards people belonging to different cultural and social backgrounds.
