Cultural genocide: David Nersessina (2005) describes cultural genocide as extending beyond the physical and biological acts to harm a group by destroying its wider institutions (p.80). Eliticide can be seen as killing of the head or leaders of the said group to make it easier to control or manipulate them, it would be harder for the group to gather up resistance if their leaders or members in positions of power are dead. Eliticide might not only involve the killing of the said members in positions of power or high standing, it can be done through taking away their property and property rights or through imprisonment. Examples of these are shown in the Armenian genocide where those in power or this in high standing with the society had their wealth and property taken away from them and they were either deported or killed.
