“What time is it?” I ask my mom in a raspy voice.
“4:00 in the morning,” my mom answers.
“Uhh, can I go back to sleep?” I moan to my mom.
“Noooo,”she replies as she turns on the lights in my room. Practice begins at 4:00 P.M. this blistering Thursday afternoon. I can’t believe that we are going to be in the parade. Outside for practice, it feels like my U.V. rays. We run our usual two laps around the track of our school, New Augusta Public Academy North. We practice all the way up until 7:00 P.M. an hour after we usually practice to make sure that we learn our steps and moves for the chant and the choreography for the dance routine.

I didn’t want to go to practice today. This is it, no more mess ups, nothing but perfection, we don’t have practice tomorrow because we have a pep rally, which allows us to leave 8th period early to get changed and to have our homework and belongings that we need out of our lockers. We our running our usual two laps to condition. The heat has been a terrible amount of sun. The heat is like a humongous magnet just sucking out your energy.
Today is Saturday, September 21, 2017 the morning of the Circle City Classic. After, my mom woke me up and I took a shower, I drunk some water and ate my delicious bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns for breakfast. Now, me and my mom are driving downtown to the meeting spot which is the parking lot right under the bridge by Channel 13 television station. Then, after everyone has arrived we are starting to walk approximately a block and ½ to where we are eating breakfast. Our breakfast platter consist of, a hash brown, egg, and sausage burrito, you can also have a pastry of your choice with apple juice are orange juice.

“They are good” screams a teenage girl.
“Good Job Lady Phoenix” screams the large crowds of people.
We have reached the second judging table, but unlike the first table this judges table has a camera for the whole world to see. After this table we march while dancing to the third and last judges table, we did great. After the table we march one more block. Everyone in the crowd screamed and cheered for us. When we got done everyone walked with their parent to the tent where we all ate breakfast together. After a while, my mom and I grabbed our stuff to take to the car. Then, Sophie’s dad was going to pick Sophie up where we all first gathered together earlier this morning. Next, we dropped off Sophie with her dad. My mom and I put everything in the car, the fold up chair, the waters, and my practice bows that I received from Coach Candace when we all first came to the meeting spot. While my mom and I got into the car and my mom started to drive off, I think to myself, “If I didn’t go to practice like I wanted, then none of this glory would have ever happened.” I guess this event taught me something that I need to keep in mind for life, “ Hard work always pays in the
