Reflecting back on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, improvised explosive devices can be traced all over the operational area. Terrorist were becoming more unique with their attacks. Devices were buried along the main supply routes of military forces, vehicle borne explosive devices placed by checkpoints, and other clever strategies to try and hinder our mission. Mortar rounds being placed on the side of the road, wired to be activated by a cellular device. DTRA expanded its mission to address the rise of the evident threat. The Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO) was created to enhance the training and equip our nation’s warfighters in assistance in the defense our nation. On September 2016, the organization was moved directly under the DTRA umbrella. This organization works quickly to field a vast variety of equipment to defeat IEDs. Advanced scenario based training is provided to allow explosive ordnance technicians to train with the right tools and methods to eliminate improvised explosive devices. Gathering, analyzing and sharing operational information will assist in the crippling of these extremist organizations who utilize these devices. Whether it’s the individual’s financially providing, the device makers or supporting the movement, JIDO is created to tear down the
