In the year 1800, 13-year-old Pierre La Page never imagined he would be leaving his home (Montreal) to paddle 2,400 miles across the lakes of Cape Cod, but when his father suffers an accident it will be up to him to quit school and take his father’s brutal job as a voyager for The Northwest Company. Worried for her son’s life Pierre’s mother might never see him again because of the brutal waters, crashing waves, and lack of food and water, Pierre’s courage will keep on pushing him to make his father proud and help his mother and father survive the upcoming winter. Pierre thought his life was going to be easy, but this is one challenge that he never could accomplish. On the first day of the long voyage a burst of courage…
Oak trees (genus Quercus) may possess a behavioral defense against acorn predators. Data collected from many oak species shows a common trend that several years of relatively low acorn production are followed by a year with an exceptionally large production of acorns. The term “mast” is used to refer to the amount of acorns produced per year, and the phrase “mast year” is used to describe the year in which acorn production is exceptionally high. Mast years seem to be synchronous within a given population of oaks; most of the trees in a population have high acorn production in the same year. Their are several hypotheses about why mast years occur.…

If zombies did happen to come to St.Labre, first I would go and find a knife or something to protect myself with while I try and get to a safe and secure spot with food, water, and shelter then i would grab all my friends that weren’t zombies and I would go over to the spot that would keep us safe and fed. If zombies were to attack St. Labre while we were in school this is what i would in a few short sentences but continue on to read and i will tell you more. My basic needs of surviving a zombie attack would be having shelter, protection or as in a defensive shelter to protect me and whoever else is with me away from the zombies, also food, and water. So when the zombies come to eat everyone’s brains i’ll be safe and sound in my hide out…
2. Using two examples of different female performers, describe how changes in the role of women in American society were reflected in popular music between 1965 and 1970. The 1960’s were a time for people to express themselves and break out of social norms in their everyday life. But this also was a time for women to break norms and change their role in both society and music during 1965-1970. One woman who was breaking many norms in the musical world at the time was Janis Joplin.…
Charles' reign began with war against Spain, so initially his masques were not as extravagant and expensive as his father's were so famously known for because his money was going towards "more needful purposes ". His masques always argued his claim to the throne and included the most current political and legal events which suggest that the King was actively involved in their composition. "Charles was not merely being entertained by his masques, the form was an extension of the royal mind ". In fact Buckingham, Charles' right hand man, sponsored two masques himself in 1626 and 1627. The first was staged at York at his home in London, where Charles and his Queen Henrietta Maria were escorted in with the rest of their court.…
Cantigny Reading over the local historical places to visit my eyes gleamed with 8th grade memories when I ran across Cantigny. I had fond memories of Cantigny with my 8th grade friends as we eagerly climbed on the tanks to take pictures as well as when we went through the tours. Though, I couldn’t recall the significance of the place. Of course, this visit was to be connected with history somehow, but to me Cantigny was just tanks. So this summer I headed down with one of my good friends on one of the hottest days of this summer, and we both walked in with not much expectation for anything informational.…
I think I should be in National Junior Honor Society because I have great leadership skills. I love to help out with kids and make sure they are included in everything. It would be a good learning experience leading school activities such as dances and concession stands. I want to join National Junior Honor Society because it sounds like a fun learning opportunity and skills I could use my whole life. These skills I could use in everyday life and forever.…
National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for me! I have been dreaming to be in this society ever since the end of fifth grade. I would love to be involved in NJHS and share my suggestions and listen to other people’s ideas. I am very passionate to help those in need. For an example, I have donated many foods, clothing, utensils, and more to Vietnam and to the victims of Hurricane Harvey.…
National Junior Honor Society is a great opportunity for me, and is an organization that I really hope to be in. I love doing service not because I am forced to, but I get to be with my friends and is also a way for me to give back to the community. I love helping the needy and have participated in countless activities. For example, I was a part of a group that put together care kits for the homeless, picked up trash at a park, and created blankets for the needy. Being in NJHS will give me a chance to find even more ways to do more service and become a leader.…
Throughout my life I have always tried to be the best person I could possibly become. From having perfect grades to being any sports team MVP. I have grown up with the phrase, “The harder you work, the better you do,” engraved into my head. My dad told me this after school, after sports, and after I finish anything i did. I work hard for my grades and that has ended me here.…
