When there is the presence of both parents a child starts to feel a sense of security a feeling of self-worth, and starts building their self-esteem from within developing themselves to be successful. As if a child born into a dysfunctional family involving an absent parent, as well as sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse. There often pushed into that type of delinquent environment, raised in the streets and with those who engage in an unlawful behavior. Blacks Law Dictionary defines the term as, “A child whose parents or legal custodians are unfit to care for him or her because of cruelty, immorality, or incapacity.” (Garner, 2009, pg. 300.) The concept of child neglect is one of the main issues that the criminal justice system focuses on. The following are also categories that go with a form of child neglect: medical, emotional, educational, physical neglect and the lack of supervision and guidance. (Recognizing and Helping the Neglected Child. “Understanding Child Neglect.” Pg.13.) Physical neglect in a child is failing to meet the daily needs of a child such as food, shelter and food. Medical neglect, is not caring for the health of a child and attending to its well-being. Emotional neglect is not being able to show support or encouragement towards the child. Educational neglect, is not helping to meet the standards of your child in a school settings, such as conferences with the teacher or homework or study settings. The most important thing a parent or a guardian should know is to car for the child, the child resembles who the parent is. Psychological therapy isn’t an easy way for these children to forget about what happens in the life of a child. Children are to be found death in some cases of neglect, all children need the care of a parent or any father or mother figure person.
