With the cost of health care rising exponentially, the poor have very little reason to trust that they will or can get the treatments(s) necessary to maintain or at the very least treat long term illnesses. Mistrust of the health care system may consist of unaffordability, coverage, providers or the lack there of, and or claims, “certain health care problems experienced by vulnerable populations differ from those encountered by other in the health care system”, (Chapter Eight: Focusing on Vulnerable Populations, 2016). Mistrust has been established by both the provider and the insurance companies and may sometimes be seen as one in the same even though they are not. It is also just as important to be able to trust the provider as well as the health care system as a whole to make sure that that person can get the best possible care. In summary, the historical and present aspect of the health care system have provided the background for why there may be distrust and how gaining trust of a patient makes it easier to provide great care. It is a great feeling when someone has found a provider that they can trust and with that established also be able to trust the health care system in which the provider is a representative
