DNP’s a Weight Loss Miracle? Or a Devastating Chain Link of Events?
By: Ashveen Sharma
As with the many possible weight loss and fat loss options, theories, practices, and scientific reasoning the chances and possibilities of achieving weight loss are endless. From basic strategies such as cardio, and exercising to more advanced such as steroids and insulin injection. However, not all are created equally; one drug diet pill known as dinitrophenol (DNP) is a synthetic chemical compound which can achieve weight loss and melt fat but it comes at a costly price which is to destroy the body’s ability to produce ATP and disrupt the energy generation in cells (Bodach par. …show more content…
A study from the University of Mississippi department of biology had recently conducted and studied an experiment on DNP’s within the body. It was compared with an obese human’s fatty tissue and a normal human with healthy tissues. The DNP was cut open and injected into the tissues through a syringe, and what occurred was an abnormal loss in fatty tissues from the obese person’s sample. The other sample was left the same, what was notably different was that the obese persons sample shrunk in size from 6 inches into 3 inches. The amount of fat that was lost came in at 4 hours from peak and fluctuated from increasing to decreasing from the 10th hour to 12th (Reitman par. 9. 5-18). This states and proves how DNP’s melt fat at an uncontrollable rate with no say in how much and where it occurs. The prolonged use of DNP’s will create an impermeable boundary that the body cannot get itself out of. DNP’s have been around since the WW1 and WW2 time and during those times they were used to strengthen the men in warfare which allowed them to stay warm over long periods of battle. The negative associated with this was their bodies were in a state of confusion, meaning they stayed warm and sweated a ton! The drawback to this was even if they were not on the drug their bodies kept producing internal heat but as a result did not sweat it out. Leading to constant high internal temperatures without a control as the DNP hindered brain activity (Griffin par. 8 .8-16). DNP’s also contribute to severe illness and death with the extreme factors the body is placed in. Common illnesses associated are extreme fever, sweating, yellow skin, and difficulty breathing (Leslie par. 12. 10-14). DNP’s are a threat to use as you will never know when it will stop or begin its harmful
