Luckily drugs never ruined the career of the Beatles, but it played a critical role on the way they were perceived by the public and the way they produced music. Looking at their “drug” ridden albums, such as Rubber Soul and Revolver, you can see noticeable differences in their songs. The article even mentions noticeable lyrics within the songs, such as “the line “turns me on” into the song “She’s A Woman” (Hertsguard, 195). John mentions that the drugs never wrote the songs for the Beatles, but indirectly drugs did impact the way the Beatles wrote their songs. The drugs allowed them to obtain a different consciousness, as George mentioned, thus allowing them to create music that sounds different and tests the normal boundaries. If it wasn’t for the Beatles drug use, I don’t know if we would have seen this creative, yet odd side of the Beatles portrayed through their music. The usage of drugs gave the Beatles a bad reputation, as their song “A Day In The Life” was banned for BBC once the public found out they were heavy drug users. This was just one of the consequences the Beatles suffered from drug usage, but they got their reputation back by making it public that they do not condone the worshipping of drugs. The rock bohemians’ article discusses the impact the public art colleges had on the music industry, particularly artists. The art colleges were the schools where artists would go basically so they didn’t have to enter the workforce right after high school. Art colleges impacted the artists because it introduced them to things such as romanticisms, which obviously impacted the Beatles music. I think this article is similar to the rock bohemians because they both talk about the impact different things played in the Beatles music, this article talks about the influence of drugs and the rock bohemians’ talks about John’s influence from attending Art College. The article that differs the most was “The Creative Mind” article. This article discusses different views on creativity, specifically the psychological and human creativity. This article will go on to discuss that creativity has 3 different forms, all of which talk about exploring different spaces. This differs from the other articles in the module because this one talks about an important aspect to the Beatles, but doesn’t directly talk about the impact of the different creativity forms have on the Beatles specifically. Overall, these articles shared some similarities and
